A tall glass of cold grape juice sounds ideal on a hot day of summer.  It is refreshing and fruity.  But it also provides significant amounts of helpful antioxidants.

Various fruits and vegetables have different amounts of antioxidants.  The ORAC value is a helpful tool to know how many antioxidants are included in the fruits and vegetables you include in your daily diet.  This value tells you how much of an antioxidant is in a food per 100 grams.

The value for Concord grape juice is 2,377 m mol TE/100g.  That puts it in the top ten juices with the highest antioxidant power according to some studies.  Other juices that were studied include acai and pomegranate.  While they may have more antioxidants than Concord grape juice, are you more likely to drink one of those juices?

Also, getting all your antioxidants from juice may contribute to your becoming overweight.  Most juices are loaded with empty calories and tons of sugar that can cause you to gain weight.  That is why it is important to look for a juice that has less sugar.

If you can find a juice with lesser amounts of sugar then you can actually reduce the chance of metabolic syndrome.  Metabolic syndrome is when several factors come together that are usually associated with being overweight.  These may include heart disease, stroke, and Type II diabetes.  The antioxidant power from Concord grape juice has been shown to decrease metabolic syndrome making you healthier overall.

Getting the antioxidants that your body needs can be easy when you include more of the fruits and vegetables high in antioxidant power.  Concord grape juice can reduce the effects of aging and has been shown to improve your health.  And it’s just fun to drink as well!
